Job Description:
A New York City-based nonprofit organization is currently
seeking an experienced professional to join their staff as their
new Project Financial Services Manager. Serving as the primary
financial business partner for the policy areas, the Project
Financial Services Manager will be responsible for focusing on a
range of financial management and organizational tasks.
Responsibilities:
The Project Financial Services Manager will:
- Develop and maintain a detailed spending plan/strategy for
complex, multi-funded projects, considering funder preferences and
constraints
- Prepare financial reports, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and
compliance with agreement terms
- Interpret provisions in grant/contract documents relating to
payment terms, billing, limitations on cost, and requirements for
budget modifications and extensions
- Determine the correct allocation of expenses to funding
sources
- Interact with project teams, MDRC's legal department, and
funding agencies to resolve financial issues
- Perform financial analysis to support financial planning and
decision-making
- Monitor spending, compliance, and potential budget
modifications or extensions
- Prepare budget modifications for submission to funders
- Prepare materials and lead meetings for effective management of
financial issues
- Identify and report risks related to the completeness,
timeliness, budget, or any other area that is discovered during the
performance of the work
- Build relationships with leadership, project teams, and all
departments throughout the organization
- Help create and maintain a department culture that emphasizes
collaboration, contribution, and positive and constructive
relationship-building
- Perform other duties, as needed Qualifications:
- 6+ years of related work experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience in pre- and post-award management of Federal &
Foundation Grants and Contracts, including financial reporting for
projects with multiple funding services and compliance
requirements
- Solid understanding of Project Cost Accounting, Revenue
Recognition, Cost Allocations, Audit requirements, and Indirect
Costs
- Microsoft Excel proficient
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized Desired Skills:
- Experience Automated Accounting & Budgeting systems and
databases
